I absolutely loved this book, and it’s probably one of my favorites, I love young adult books and graphic novels as well as any other. In this case, I honestly think the fact that it’s a graphic novel enhances the readers perception of her life. And I mean, who wouldn’t want to know about the life of the woman who created Dykes to Watch Out For.

FY Lesbian Literature!: ~*Calling all (lesbian) avid readers! I need some help. →
I have posted this question on several forums and question/answer websites. And have yet to find an answer. A while back at a Barnes and Noble bargain bin (or closing sale?) I bought one of those $5 books. And I cannot for the life of me remember the title or author.
- It’s got a blue cover, old-style picture of a brunette woman appears to be in her thirties. With a dress on, it’s light in color scheme. It’s non-fiction/memoirs about her life, spans over 30 years of her life starting around the 1950s I believe.
- She goes through I believe three different men/marriages. I’m pretty sure she became a therapist and had to be closeted for that because back then it would’ve signaled her as having a mental illness. One of the men was a lot older than her. And one of them was very well-off.
- She had a very close relationship with her parents. They helped her when she finally decided to stay single after her marriages fell apart. They helped her buy her own house to live on her own, without the support of a man. Eventually she ended up allowing a tenet to move in. And that tenet and her developed a relationship together. Which also had to be kept secret for quite some time.
And that’s all I can remember, not necessarily in that order. And not necessarily detail-for-detail absolutely correct. I really loved the book and wanted to reread it. But because I thought it was so awesome I let a friend borrow it and never got it back.

No, that is unfortunately not the book I read, but sounds interesting and I will definitely check it out. I can clearly envision the cover in my mind, but not the title. If I could just snap a brain picture that’d be fantastic.

Okay, so I have been wanting to design t-shirts for some time. And I have a long list of t-shirt ideas in addition to my Lesbo Tips that were going to double as t-shirts. Basically I’ve been frustrated with trying to find clever ones, and decided to just make my own. Note: a graphic will be designed, and some things will be re-worded for the (above) t-shirt.
It’s obviously going to start out very small, and I don’t know if I will make any profits, so I won’t be able to donate anything until I do. But, I may just to find a way to support myself in hopes to continue to have the ability to eat. I’m either under-qualified or over-qualified for every damned job I apply for. And yes I realize homohelper also does this. But, I’m always a step-too-late when I finally get off my ass to do something.
I was debating as to when to make a post about this. I may also mention it (shorter version) on Lesbo Tips. But, to start I may ask several people what my first shirt will be. If I can get ahold of some ink and a few t-shirts in time I may do a Pride shirt. If not, I have decided to offer a free t-shirt to the 500th follower and the 1000th follower. Which just may be one of their choice.
But, that brings me to this submission I made to LGBTLaughs. Almost three hundred people liked it. And I had plans to make it into a t-shirt also. So, if your interested let me know. I will be attempting to ship all over the United States. And should you happen to live locally you can avoid shipping charges. :D
Every shirt will be hand-made by me. And the price range will be around $20-$25 (shipping included) — seems to be the average for a t-shirt these days.
